The Brownsville Police Department is investigating the terrible murder of fifteen-year-old Angel Guerra, who was shot to death on January 30, 2026, on S. Indiana Avenue on the 1300 block.

Preliminary accounts indicate the gunfire happened as a 14-year-old youth was handling a gun and a bullet was accidentally released hitting Angel in the stomach. The injured individual was sent to a local hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Facing manslaughter charges, the 14-year-old boy has been arrested along with Edgar Alexis Flores, 25 years old, charged with Making a Firearm Accessible to a Child Causing Serious Bodily Injury/Death, a Class A misdemeanor. Flores was released on a bond of $5,000.
For the Brownsville neighborhood, this is a terrible loss, according police officers. "Our hearts go out to Angel's family, friends, and loved ones during this very difficult time."
