A Four-Hour I-215 Closure Followed the Deadly Crash That Took Two Lives

 Two people lost their lives Tuesday afternoon after a three-vehicle collision brought traffic on Salt Lake City’s Interstate 215 to a standstill for hours. Jody W. Thackeray, 68, and Desiree S. Thackeray, 40, were traveling together in a 2005 Jaguar S-Type when a chain-reaction crash on southbound I-215 near 2300 North left both with severe injuries. Despite emergency response efforts, neither survived.

The crash occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. on August 25, 2026, according to authorities. Investigators determined that a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek rear-ended the Jaguar, sending the Jaguar forward into the rear of a 2024 Ford F-150.
