Following the posting of a viral TikTok video in which she made explicit comments wishing injury on White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who recently declared her pregnancy, a Baptist Health Boca Raton Regional Hospital labor and delivery nurse has been fired.

Nurse Terminated Karoline Leavitt Video

Alexis "Lexie" Lawler Karoline Leavitt viral Comments

Alexis "Lexie" Lawler, a nurse known online, incited wrath when her video went viral. Lawler wished Leavitt long-term medical consequences in the clip by using harsh language and referring to major birth injuries, including a fourth‑degree perineal tear. Social media sites quickly came under fire for the video.

Baptist Health South Florida stated Lawler is no longer employed by the health system. The hospital underlined that even if personal views are valued, "there is no place in health care for language or behavior that calls into question a caregiver's ability to provide compassionate, impartial care."

Following the video, Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer also got involved and called hospital authorities. Later, on social media, he confirmed Lawler's termination: "These nasty remarks have no use in medicine nor in our society."

Supporters of Lawler started a GoFundMe campaign dubbed "Help Lexie Lawler Fight Retaliation for Speaking Out" following her firing. The event argues that Lawler lost her employment for voicing her First Amendment‑protected beliefs and asks help for legal costs and living expenses. The campaign has started to pick up steam online as of this week.

The nursing commission of Florida has not released a public statement on whether Lawler's license is under investigation.

The incident emphasizes the rising conflict between professional responsibility in health care and claims for free speech. Lawler's admirers see her firing as payback, but detractors contend that her comments damaged the empathy and confidence demanded of medical professionals.
